Medical Training & Affiliations

I attended UCLA Medical School where I was elected to AOA and completed my training as Chief Resident at the Santa Monica/UCLA Hospital Residency in Family Medicine.  I am Board Certified in Family Medicine.  After graduation, I started a private practice in Glendale, California and was a clinical faculty member at the Glendale Adventist Family Medicine Residency for three years.  My husband, who grew up in Los Gatos, completed his training in Sports Orthopedics in 2004. We relocated to Los Gatos at that time.  Mark joined Kaiser in Santa Teresa and I joined this practice.

Patient Population

I chose family medicine because I really enjoy the full range of patients seen – men and women, children, teenagers, young adults, and seniors.  We welcome children ages 10 and up.  My practice includes women’s health, sports & insurance physicals, elder care, preventative medicine, sports medicine, immunizations, and basic health care.

I am also a certified Senior Aviation Medical Examiner.  This qualifies me to do the physical exams on Class I, II or III pilots.  Here is the link for those exams:

Focus of Practice

For those who are healthy and active, I can help with preventative medicine, nutrition and weight control, annual physicals, pre-participation sports physicals, and birth control. I am open to working with people who are exploring alternative health care options.  My own athletic background helps me understand the needs of sports minded individuals and help them prevent injury.  For those who have chronic illness, my training in family medicine includes a full range of medical problems including diabetes, depression, hypertension, asthma, allergy control and autoimmune diseases.  For complicated cases, I will work with the specialist to coordinate your medical care.

My office accepts a wide range of PPO plans.  Please refer to the “Insurance Info” section to check on the different plans that we accept.

I strive to provide intelligent and attentive care by working with the patient, their family, and other specialists as a team.  I take a personalized approach to each patient, considering all aspects of their personal and professional life.  My goal is to help each patient achieve a healthier life by targeting their risk factors and  providing preventive care, including advice on diet, exercise and stress reduction.

I am in the office on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 AM to 5 PM.

On the days that I am not available,  Dr. Kathryn Shade or Dr. Angela Ritz will be available if necessary.  I leave openings in my schedule to accommodate emergent same day appointments and make every effort to return all phone calls in a timely matter.
